Measurement & improvement verification: define the boundary first

Improvement comparisons require clear data sources, scope, periods, and methods. A drop in total electricity use alone does not demonstrate improved energy efficiency per product.

Measurement scope

Record equipment, circuits, sensors, production output sources, and data gaps so readers know which operations the data covers.

Comparison periods & production conditions

Retain the baseline period and reporting period, and review them alongside load, operating hours, product mix, and production output.

Boundaries for using energy and carbon data

Emissions per unit calculated within measurement boundaries using applicable factors can support operational analysis. They are not a complete product carbon footprint, life cycle assessment (LCA), or third-party verification result.
